Contact Lenses

Contacts lenses are another option available to anyone in need of nearsighted, farsighted or astigmatism correction. All of our contact lens wearers undergo additional contact lens-related tests that are supplemental to the comprehensive eye exam. These tests are necessary to make sure your eyes are healthy, that your lenses fit properly, and to ensure you are seeing as well as possible. All of our new contact lens wearers undergo formal contact lens instruction relating to insertion and removal of lenses, proper cleaning and care of lenses as well as a series of follow-up visits with their doctor to ensure they can be a successful contact lens wearer and minimize any complications relating to their contact lenses.
There are many kinds of contacts that can be categorized as:

  • The material they are made of-hard (also called gas permeable), soft, and hybrid lenses
  • Length of wear (daily and extended wear)
  • Frequency of disposal (disposable, daily disposable, frequent replacement and traditional lenses)
  • Lens design (spherical, bifocal, toric and Keratoconus)
  • Additional features (dry eye contacts, colored lenses, special effects, prosthetic lenses)
  • Hybrid: We proudly fit Synergeyes hybrid contact lenses for those patients with Keratoconus or other corneal irregularities as an alternative to standard gas permeable (hard) lenses.

If you are first time contact lens wearer then it is important to schedule an appointment with your eye doctor. During this time you will undergo a comprehensive eye exam by your doctor. Your doctor will also discuss the options available that will best fit your prescription, your eye structure and your tear production to determine the best lens for optimal eye health.

Contact our office today to schedule your contact lens exam with one of our doctors. We will gladly answer any of your questions and provide you with the best treatment options available to you.
